The Hitachi Magic Wand has been renamed the Magic Wand Original. This is one appliance that everyone needs in their arsenal. It is unique enough to be used as a great back/neck massager, as well as very personal type of massager. Many people will use it as their personal massager, although I find it useful enough for both. I tend to be picky when it comes to what I own, and this has a unique quality that is unlike any other.
Is it the best wand vibrator?
In terms of vibrating wands, there’s a few really good options you have. One is the Magic Wand Original which is what this review is about. The other two options will be listed in the table below.
I have two main issues with the Magic Wand Original:
- Price. The two options below are over $50 cheaper than the Original Magic Wand and have the same performance. You’re basically paying for a brand name with the Magic Wand Original.
- Counterfeits. The second issue is that there are a lot of counterfeit Original Magic Wands so you never know if you’ll get the real one which is great quality or if you’ll get a cheap knock off that will stop working in a couple of months.

The big advantage that the Magic Wand vibrator has is that it’s super discreet. It looks more like a massager that can be used on your shoulders and neck than a vibrator that would be used for other areas. The wand massager has the most “plausible deniability” of any vibrator because it’s actually a personal massager. At the end of the day though, it’s just a vibrator, it’s not the end of the world.

Magic Wand Vibrator Design
Originally designed to be used as a female massager, this one is more popular for its use as a vibrator. This vibrator stands out from the rest in that it has a big massager head that almost looks like a microphone rather than the typical elongated vibrator design. Handing the Magic Wand
This one is considered to be on the big side as the total length is reaches 30cm/12 inches and weighs 540gr (yes a bit more than 1 pound). The head and overall elements are also on the big side, which makes it a bit of hassle to grab and hold. Especially if you are one of these females with very thin and sensitive hands, this might be hard for you to control. When activated, the vibrator seems to make the fingers and the palm vibrate and become numb for a few seconds, so consider this before making your purchase. Of course your hands are not necessary in case you want to ride this by sticking it on hard surface without using your hands, it’s totally up to you.
Testing the Magic Wand for the first time
The first thing you notice about this vibrator is that it comes with two speed settings: high and low. Even when you set this to low, the power and speed is blatantly obvious. If you think the low speed will be just low, you will certainly be surprised as this looks like a medium to high speed. Imagine how powerful and tingly this might feel when set to the high speed.
I personally experimented with both speeds and yes, it feels like a little bomb inside you. One of my girlfriends who also bought this, found that using the highest speed is a too much and a tad painful. So if you are buying a vibrator for the first time without having any experience with sex toys in general, I’m not sure if you are going to love this from the first sight. Using this hands-free
If you want to use this without your hands, it’s not so hard as it looks. I have found that placing two regular pillows and a towel over them and placing the vibrator over the towel (lying down), and activated works like a charm (no standing up is needed), stooping a tad should do the trick and that way you can experience just the right severity of vibration (not too much, neither too little). Of course this is just one suggestion on how to use it hands free and you can experiment on your own to find your ideal position.
The noise
I don’t know what were they thinking when making this noise-wise but yes, this makes a quite loud vibrating sound—apparently the manufacturers weren’t concerned with the discreetness of the noise. So yes, this will be embarrassing to use when you are not alone, or even if you share a wall with your neighbors. It almost sounds like drilling through the walls—yes it’s that noisy and people will start wondering what is that weird buzzling noise coming from your place, of course some will know what it is Unfortunately, this sounds noisy even on low speed with things placed on top so keep in this in mind to avoid embarrassing moments. The only way this might sound less noisy, is if you have good sound insulation that absorbs all the vibrations and noise, but for plain regular homes and apartments, the noise make it blatantly obvious that you are using it. Don’t get me wrong, this does the job that it’s supposed to, but I don’t pull out this bad boy until I am ready for the finally. The vibrations are a bit more than expected, but works just fine once you are fully warmed up. I find that it works better that way. The truth is that this is sometimes way to powerful for some people. The original Hitachi vibrator had 24 and 20 Watt vibrations, while the newer model only has 10 watts, but it works just great. This model comes with two attachments, one that I refer to as the “Gonzo” because of the shape. These are meant for personal pleasure and allow the Magic Wand to become an insertable. There are plenty of upsides for this toy, but I tend to use it more for non-sexual reasons. It doubles as a great neck and back massager. I tend to use it after a warm shower to keep my muscles loose after a super hard day. Either way it goes the only real issue is the noise. It sounds like a jet, it’s that loud.
