Vibrators and masturbation for females are still a bit of a taboo in today's society. Guys always talk about masturbating and it's a badge of honor to them the more they do it and talk about it. Unfortunately for females, it's a bit of a different story. I'm hoping to change a bit of that. I'm here to help you select the best vibrator for your needs!

I'm listening
Vibrators are the best sex toys for women and selecting the best vibrator for your needs will always be based on your individual preferences and we're all different. There are however, some things you should consider before buying a vibrator that will help ensure that you choose one that you’ll actually enjoy using.

This is a really long article so in the below table I'll give a summary of all my hard work!
My favorites!

cheers

We-Vibe Tango![]() Check price at lovehoney.com | 4.8 It just takes one to tango. It's super quiet, it's vibrations are rumbly and it's performance is just phenomenal. It's not as stylish as the Lelo Nea 2 but it's not as expensive. |

Happy Rabbit 2![]() Check price at Love Honey | 4.5 The best mid priced option for a rabbit vibrator. It has flexible ears so you can adjust them so that they surround your clitoris perfectly. The head of the shaft has some flex to it as well, so you can tailor the angle to suit your body. |
Lelo Mona 2![]() Check price at lelo.com | 4.4 This is the best option if you're looking for a vibe for your g-spot. Very quiet and is curved perfectly to hit the g-spot. The vibrations just seem to hit at a deeper level. I love it. Suits beginners and experienced users. |
Fifty Shades Darker Desire Explodes Rechargeable G-Spot Vibrator![]() Check price at Love Honey | 4.3 Best value vibrator for your g-spot. It is absolutely fantastic, has wonderful rumbly vibrations and provides much better value than the Mona 2 BUT it's very loud so many find it a turn off. |

Factors I consider when rating a vibrator
The #1 factor to consider is PERFORMANCE - Does it hit the spot?
This is the big one, does it give you an orgasm or does it give you an OMG ORGASM!!!

This is the type of orgasm you want

Not this
Types of vibrations?
When it comes to stimulating the clitoris, there's one massive factor you have to take into consideration: are the vibrations "buzzy" or "rumbly"?
Rumbly vibrations are what you're after, they're deep and penetrating and give you a better orgasm.
Buzzy vibrations will generally leave you numb if you use them for a long session. They're also a pain for your hand because after using one your hand gets tired and feels like you've been writing all day. They're fine for a quick session but rumbly vibrations are much better and kinder to your clit. 95% of your clit is actually under the surface, sort of like an iceberg... The rumbly vibrations stimulate the clit at a deeper level than the buzzy type which seem to just stimulate the visible part of the clit. You want to have as much fun as possible!

Oh yeah!
Material
Obviously you want something safe but some vibrator materials just feel better than others.
Price
If one option costs twice as much as another option but they have the same performance, obviously I'll prefer the less expensive option. Having said that, you usually get what you pay for. The other factor to consider is some just don't want to spend $100 on a vibrator!
Noise level
My pet hate with vibrators is the noise level. I really don’t like loud ones. Sometimes you're 80% in the mood, not 100% in the mood but think hey, I'd like to kill some time or get some frustration out and in those cases having what sounds like a couple of bees buzzing in your ear can be a massive turn off. You might also draw too much attention to yourself at the wrong time.

Power source
Another preference I have is for rechargeable vibrators instead of battery operated vibrators or vibrators that get plugged into a power socket. The reason I don’t like battery operated toys is because they can run out of batteries or lose their power at the WORST time which leaves you furious. And I do mean furious. Hell hath no fury as a woman who's vibrator has died on her mid-session. I hate having my sessions interrupted, let alone batteries dying on me. I’m not a massive fan or corded toys as well because the cords just get in the way.
With USB or rechargeable toys, after you use and then clean your toy you can just charge it to full charge again and never have to worry about running out of power at the wrong time...
And it’s more eco-friendly to not throw batteries into land fill. Even my orgasms should be eco-friendly!
Discretion
Not so important to me but I understand it can be very important to my many. Some have fears that this might happen...

Ease of cleaning
I take hygiene very seriously but I don't like cleaning, I've got better things to do with my time. So I want a product that's easy to clean, preferably water proof so that I don't have to be too careful when I'm cleaning and can get the job done fast.
Aesthetics
I'm just not a fan of plastic, cheap looking toys. I have a preference for stylish items.

Types of vibrators
When buying a vibrator, the first thing you have to figure out is what type of vibrator you want, one that stimulates the:
- Clitoris - best for beginners
- G-spot - check out the g-spot vibrator buying guide
- Both the clitoris and the g-spot - Check out the rabbit vibrator buying guide

This is generally what the different types of vibrators look like
This is a really good short clip by an Australian lady discussing all the different kinds like simple clitoris vibrators, g-spot, rabbits, couples etc.
Below is a table going over all the different types of vibrators
- Clit vibrators - Pocket rockets
- Clit vibrators - Magic Wands
- G-spot
- Rabbits
- Other
Egg vibrators and bullet vibrators are designed for clitoral stimulation and are quite small but fairly strong considering the size. Not only are they discrete, but they also are quite affordable (starting at around $5) for first-time users. There is a wide selection of designs, speed range, and vibrating patterns. All of which are easy to use, which makes them great for the inexperienced or those that just want to try a vibrator but are really unsure about it.

Typical Egg vibrator
Most of these types of vibrators are "budget" options though and provide very buzzy vibrations instead of rumbly vibrations so if you can spare a few extra dollars, you're much better off going for another type of vibrator or at least go for a high end egg or bullet.

#2. Tango by We-Vibe
We-Vibe make some of the most popular vibrators on the market. The We-Vibe Tango has 8 different levels of vibrations, 4 different intensity levels (Low, Medium, High, Ultra) and 4 patterns (Tease, Wave, Pulse, Cha-cha). Even though it's small, it has all the power you need. You generally need a big motor to make big vibrations which is why I generally don’t like bullet vibrators but this toy is different because it has all the vibrations you need. Even though it is super powerful, it's really quiet. The power is incredible for something so small.
Yes it’s more expensive than other vibes but you get what you pay for. This vibrator will give you those throbbing orgasms you love so much.

We Vibe Tango
It has enough power, but are its vibrations rumbly? The answer to that is yes, Yes, YES. The lipstick end allows for pinpoint accuracy 🙂 but the flat side side allows for more subtle vibrations, perfect for foreplay. It even has a memory function, when you next turn it on it starts off at your previous setting the last time you used it. It even has a low battery indicator. The light in the base will blink on and off when the Tango is low on power and needs to be recharged.

#4. Happy Rabbit 2
Getting a good rabbit vibrator is really tough. They can be quite complicated little pieces of machinery. Seeing as we're all different shapes and sizes and our special spots aren't in exactly the same position for everyone, you need a rabbit that can be adjustable to suit your particular body. The Happy Rabbit 2 shaft and the bunny ears are adjustable. The bunny ears can be angled so that they perfectly surround your clitoris and the head of the shaft also has some flex to it.
The Happy Rabbit 2 is waterproof and has 15 functions, three for the ears and twelve for the shaft. The three in the ears have varying levels of intensity at constant speeds. The shaft has the same level of intensities and speeds but also has nine patterns to choose from. The shafts first three functions are constant, rumbly, vibrations, just the way I like them. Both the ears and the shaft have great, rounded vibrations that will travel well throughout the entire shaft.

Happy Rabbit 2
You can use the ear and shaft functions at the same time or you can just use one or the other. As the toy has two motors, one for the ears and one for the shaft I was expecting it to be a rather noisy toy. I was wrong, I’m pleased to report that it isn’t as noisy as I thought it would be even when on full power! I would recommend a bit of background music though to help with the mood because any type of vibration sound can be off putting. Considering how much power the toy has, it makes little noise. With all that said, I loved this toy. I find it really hard to find a great rabbit and now I finally have one and it's decently priced.

#5. Lelo Mona 2
My first Lelo vibe was the Mona 2 and I wasn't sure how good it was going to be. Although I was skeptical and thought that LELO was overrated with its simplistic designs that probably wouldn't work as well as other brands. I couldn’t have been more wrong about the performance.

Mona 2
The Mona 2 was so impressive, with a wide range of intensities (which is more than a lot of other brands I’ve seen). The Mona is shaped to stimulate the g-spot and does extremely well to deliver. The vibrations are rumbly and deep, and are stimulating enough that you don’t need to rock or thrust it in order to get enough sensation. The pulsation and vibration modes are fairly standard, but the random mode is a real treat. The random mode is great since you don’t know what to expect next.
Overall, the quality is great and LELO offers good warranties on all their products. The Mona 2 is pretty much perfect as a g-spot vibrator! If I could only choose one vibrator to own, I would definitely go with the Mona 2.

#6. LoveHoney Desire Luxury

Love Honey Desire
The performance is spectacular. It has really deep, rumbly vibrations which will make your whole body quiver. The only problem is the noise level. It's LOUD. If it bothers you you'll want a bit of background music and maybe stay under the sheets! The thing is, I have to go back to the performance though, it's great and the toy is reasonably priced.

#7. Lyla 2

Lyla 2
It’s a bit costly, but with a stylish design and enhanced features, the Lelo Lyla 2 is worth every penny. Cheaper vibrators stop functioning sometimes within a few months of use, so it’s not hard to justify investing in a superior vibrator. So why do I love the Lyla 2? A big reason is because of its wireless remote.
The vibe can be used externally or internally while using the wireless controller to adjust intensity and speed. The Lyla 2 is also rechargeable, waterproof and comes in many colors. It is expensive but it is worth it.

#8. Magic Wand
The Hitachi Magic Wand has been around for a long time. It was originally designed in the 1970s for those recovering from sports related injuries. Before long, women found a new and interesting use for the magic wand. With a reputation of being a fantastic vibrator for over 40 years, you know that the Magic Wand is doing something right. Although you need to have it plugged into the wall in order to use it, the extremely powerful motor and two vibration speeds make up for that. Not as discreet as a homemade vibrator though.

Magic Wand
This toy is for external pleasure, especially for vibration for the clitoral region. The big cushy head and nice design makes this the Cadillac of vibrators. It's also very discreet so you won't end up in a situation like this...
If you’re looking for a powerful vibrator with lots of sensation, the Magic Wand is for you. It’s great to use alone or with a partner. If you want my personal opinion of the Hitachi Magic Wand, I’d say that it’s a must-have if you’re looking for lots power and sensation. It’s highly adaptable, you can use it in a variety of ways, and it will become a favorite in no time! Read the full review here.
It also comes with a bunch of Magic Wand attachments so that you can vary your experience! After all, variety is the spice of life.

- Rabbit Habit - Made famous by Sex and the city.
- Lelo Mia 2 - Looks like a lipstick.
- Lelo Ora 2 - Simulates oral sex.
