If you’re like me, you get bored of the same old toys, so I went in search of a new approach. I have always heard good things about Kegel balls, so I decided to try them out. I went with the Lelo Luna Beads, because who doesn’t like Lelo products, right? Plus, I read they were a great choice for beginners.
On their website, the Lelo Beads claim to “secretly and gently vibrate to the movement of your body. These weighted beads are interchangeable and great for assisting you on obtaining stronger, and more intense climaxes.”
The below video will give you a quick overview of how they work
What the Kegel?
The Luna Beads are basically a set of large colorful (and pretty) balls, with a smaller heavier (weighted) ball inside that moves around to your movement. This means the weighted balls will move when you walk, run, jump, etc. When the heavier ball moves by the vaginal wall, it causes contractions in the PC muscles. Essentially being a lazy, but effective method to work those PC muscles ladies!
Kinky Tip: For those looking for a little exhibition, Kegel balls can be worn in public. However, I recommend waiting until you are used to them. Trust me, it’s not so secret when they keep popping out, and you have to try and put them back in!
Packaging
When the package arrived, the first thing I noticed after opening it was the sleek product box. This beautiful box contains the four Luna Beads and harness in designated slots to avoid movement. This reduces the chance of a mailman being curious.
The box also contains a satin pouch to store your beads in, or take with you when traveling. There is a personal size moisturizer which lasts one use, a warranty registration card and detailed instruction manual.
I found online registration to be quick and easy, simply creating a new account and entering the warranty code and product code. If you lose the instructions that came with it, they have them available online as well.
Materials
For a high quality product, feel, and appearance the Luna Beads are created with ABS plastic, while the harness is silicone and it has a nylon retrieval string. Lelo has made sure that all material is hygienic for safety.
Options
Lelo has four different options for their Lula Beads. There are two heavy balls, and two lighter balls. These balls are able to be used solo, or as a pair allowing those new to Kegel balls to start out lighter and work their way up to the heavier balls in stages. This increases PC muscle strength in a progression method.
- Pink Balls – These are the light balls, weighing 28g, each.
- Blue Balls – These are the heavy balls, weighing 37g, each.
- Size – All four balls measure 36mm in size.
Just starting out with the Kegel ball? You may want to start with a single pink Luna Bead, which is 28 grams. As you get used to this and your PC muscles are strong enough, add another ball. When you are able to use both blue (heavy) balls, the total weight will be up to 74g.
So, How Did They Do?
The big question, did they work, was there gentle vibrations, and was it discreet? The answer, yes they did! The vibrations are enough to be noticed, but not enough to signal to others what you are doing. This is great for that earlier tip for exhibition experiences. However, like I said for those just starting out it may be something for a later time.
I attempted this, and they kept popping out because my PC muscles were not trained enough to properly hold them in place while walking around all day. This was a bit embarrassing as I was unsure if anyone noticed me trying to put them back in position or not.
I use them all the time when I am around the house, doing daily activities. When sitting, I get the occasional vibrations, because I am not moving as often. When standing up, walking around, cleaning, etc. I know they are there.
- Sitting – Kind of like a tampon, without moving you don’t really tell it’s there.
- Standing – The balls jiggle with sudden movements, letting you know they are there.
- Walking – With steady movements, such as walking, cleaning, etc. I get a little more vibration due to long-term movements. This really works the muscles, with a pawing sensation inside.
- Heavy Movement – When you’re really moving a lot, the rocking vibrations really increase, which can be fun.
Are They Silent or Noisy?
This one goes both ways. If you are simply wearing them around the house, or walking in public with them in they are silent enough not to be noticed. However, if you are doing activities which require heavy movement, such as running, jumping, or anything that requires fast hip movement, then someone close by may be able to hear them.
For example, shaking your bum for the boyfriend might get them noticed.
Wearing and Inserting
When it comes to inserting the Luna Beads, I find it very simple and never to be an issue, long as there is some lube. I started out with a single pink ball, which are the lighter 27g balls. I am able to wear both light balls, or one blue ball now. Instead of increasing the weight of the balls for the same period of time, I have been wearing them for a longer period of time, vs increasing weight.

Verdict
In the end, the Lelo Luna Beads are a great choice for those wanting to attempt using Kegel balls. They are pretty, quiet (mostly), and easy to use. They can be used to progressively increase weight. If used in public, just keep in mind if you use too much lube (or your body naturally produces a lot of lube), they can slip out. They can be purchased at lelo.com. This product is not meant to be used for anal play. For that use some anal beads to spice up your sex life.
