A high quality great toy which for us caused orgasms together and alone, but may be an issue for different body types.
The Lelo Ida is the first toy designed specifically for use by couples which I have used. The Ida is part of the Insignia range from Lelo. I wrote a little bit about them when they were released. The Ida is available in black, deep rose and cerise.
Lelo Ida with remote
The Lelo Ida is made of a rounded disc for clit stimulation and a flexible pressure point which is worn inside the woman with the intention of the man also penetrating her. Both sections of the Lelo Ida vibrate which is controlled by either the remote of a button on the Ida itself. Although the Ida is aimed at heterosexual couples it can also be used anally to stimulate the prostate.
Packaging
Lelo Ida packaging
Lelo’s packaging is never a disappointment. A glossy black outer sleeve features an image of the Ida and information in six different languages. Inside the sleeve the Ida is packaged in a luxury black box which when opens reveals the Lelo Ida presented in a black textured foam insert which makes a pleasant change from the usual plastic of other toys.
The box contains the Ida, a wireless remote, plastic key, UK wall charger, satin storage pouch and user manual with 1 year warranty and 10 year quality guarantee. The Ida could really do with a bigger storage bag, it’s a bit of a tight fit.
Material
The Lelo Ida and remote are made from FDA approved body safe silicone which appears seamless and ABS plastic for the silver top.
Charging
The remote runs from two AAA batteries which are supplied. Place the plastic key in the centre of the remote on the silver side and twist slightly anti clockwise to open the remote, insert the batteries, place the top cover back on and use the key to turn slightly clockwise. Don’t worry if you lose the key, it’s easy enough to turn using your hand. The remote has up to ten hours of play time.
Contents
The Ida is rechargeable via a lead and plug. It takes two hours to charge and has an equal play time of two hours. The Ida has a DC charge point located on the side which is fully waterproof as it is sealed from the inside. When it is fully charged it will emit a steady white glow and when it needs charging it will flash rapidly. The Ida has up to 90 days stand by.
Lock
The Idea features a lock mode which is activated by the remote. Hold down the + and – buttons simultaneously for around three seconds to activate and deactivate. This appears to only lock the remote though, I can still activate the Ida by the button on the Ida itself.
Functions
The functions of the Ida take a little getting used to. This is one of the occasions when I actually had to read the instructions! The Ida is special as it has sense motion technology. This means in the first two modes you don’t have to push a button as such, you just move the remote.
To turn the Ida on push the small button located on the right hand side of the word Lelo. You then need to turn on the remote by pushing the + button on the remote. It takes a few seconds for the connection to happen. A light on the Ida and the remote will flash slowly when the connection is established. The remote has a range of 36 meters (118 feet), which seems a bit excessive really!
SenseMotion Mode one involves turning the remote to a 90 degree angle. When the remote is flat, there is very little or no vibrations, by turning it you are effectively increasing the vibration. When the remote is vertical you are at full vibration. This is my favorite way to use the Ida, no messing around with pushing buttons. The remote starts off so that when you increase the vibrations the remote also vibrates. This means you could also use the remote to stimulate another area if you wish. If the vibrations in the remote are a distraction, you can turn them off by holding the ( ) button for five seconds and the Ida will use a memory function to remember whether you want them on or off.
SenseMotion mode two is activated by pushing the ( ) button again. This time the vibrations are increased by increasing the speed of the movement of the remote. I’m not so keen on this setting as my arm aches after a while of having to constantly keep the remote in motion.
Next are six pre programmed settings for which you can change the vibration strength with the + and – buttons on the remote to suit you.
If you wish to use the Ida without the remote then leave the remote turned off and just turn the Ida on by pressing the button on the side. Press the button again to scroll through the six pre programmed settings. These settings will only work at full vibration. To change the vibration setting you have to turn the remote on.
To turn the remote off hold the – button for three seconds, similarly to turn off the Ida hold down the button for three seconds. If you leave the Ida turned on and the remote turned off, then the Ida will go into standby for an hour before turning off completely. No worries there about the battery wearing out when accidentally left on.
Cleaning
The Ida is fully waterproof and therefore very easy to clean with toy cleaner or antibacterial soap and warm water.
Lelo Ida In Use
We first tried the Ida in the doggy style position, I thought it would be easier so PWC could see what he was doing and gave him the remote. The remote vibrating is a great feature when someone else is in control of the remote as they are able to tell which level of vibration the Ida is on even if they can’t quite feel it themselves. The disc of the Ida didn’t really hit my clitoris at all in this position and for a start it was a bit tricky to work out what was going on and the settings. Okay I admit, at this point I hadn’t read the instructions and was still a bit confused what even the plastic key was for. I like to see if I can work things out on my own which I rather failed at on this occasion. In this position the vibrations were focused on the underside of his cock but the pressure point wasn’t rotating towards it and it wasn’t really doing much for either of us.
Lelo Ida
We changed to missionary position, worked out the settings and I took control of the remote. This way was a lot more comfortable for both of us. The disc was more focused on my clit in this position and as it has a large surface area was able to stimulate more. With the added pressure of PWC pushing into it the vibrations were much stronger. He could also feel the vibrations more in this position from the Ida rotating inside me and hitting my g spot. The Ida definitely worked well causing orgasms in this position.
When used on my own the Ida still managed to stimulated my g spot which a lot of toys fail to do. I pushed down on the clit stimulator to position it where I wanted, I needed the extra pressure so it wasn’t completely hands free for me. I much preferred the higher settings of the Ida which unfortunately does of course mean more noise from the vibrations which is slightly distracting when in a silent house. The vibrations themselves were strong enough for me at maximum.
The Ida’s disc and pressure point can only be controlled simultaneously. I prefer this as if there’s too many different settings to compete with then I will just end up getting frustrated, but some may prefer the disc and pressure point at different speeds which isn’t possible.
Lelo Ida Summary
Overall I think the Ida is going to be a bit hit and miss. As a toy which is designed to fit the woman it’s difficult to match all types of anatomy not to mention that you also have to attempt to fit a male penis in there too. When it does work which luckily it did for me, it is a great toy and will definitely be kept by the bed.
Another Lelo product that is similar is the Lelo Lyla 2. A couple of other Lelo products you may be interested in is the Lelo Siri 2 or the Lelo Ora.
