Blue Balls. Do they exist, or is it just something horny teenagers say to try and guilt trip their girlfriends into sexual acts?
Blue balls isn’t just something that the Smurfs have, it does exist, however not all males experience it. Blue balls aparently gives a really unpleasant feeling of pain, discomfort or cramping which makes men’s testicles ache due to temporary fluid congestion in the scrotum and prostate. This happens when the male is erect or sexually stimulated however doesn’t achieve an orgasm or ejaculation. It also makes the testicles increase in size by 25-50%.
When the blood enters the penis to make it erect, it becomes trapped. When it has been trapped for quite a while without achieving orgasm or ejaculation, it starts to lose the oxygen in it, and because of the lack of oxygen can sometimes turn the scrotum a slight blue color, hence the nickname ‘blue balls’. The term urologists use to describe it is ‘epididymal hypertension‘.
The technical term for temporary fluid congestion is vasocongestion. This is basically when the blood pressure increases and causes the swelling of bodily tissues. It can relate to anything from your cheeks blushing to menstrual cramps and blue balls. So it is basically a bit of payback for the pain women have to go through each month with periods. However woman can also get blue balls. Although, obviously, we have no balls. When sexually stimulated women also have an increase in blood and it can similarly create congestion which can create pelvic pressure or pain.
So how do you get rid of blue balls? The easiest thing is to have a wank, or sex. Basically just ejaculate. However if you don’t, the pain will eventually subside on it’s own. You can also put your scrotum in cold water to help relieve the pain as this will increase the blood flow.
What are your experiences of blue balls, ever had it or not at all?
